Eleanor Naremore, a steward whereas no one has yet to achieve the highest level of volunteer care within our community.
We would see Eleanor walking the neighborhood taking down signs off of trafic signs and remove them planted in the right-of-way. She did this on her own before there was even the term “bandit sign.”
You too can be an advacate of care by removing illegal signs in our neighborhood. Any signs illegly attached to traffic signs or power poles are free to be removed. When it comes to signage in the right-of-way, it is helpful to understand how to read variety of maps (google, HCAD, etc.) to know the boundaries of the righ-of-way and personal property.
Feel free to help remove these signs that clutter our beuatiful neighborhood.
Yes, I have lived here a long time and Eleanor was definitely an asset to this community, although many didn’t think so. She worked hard to maintain the value of the homes here and many times was not appreciated. We need to take down the signs on the stop signs also and remove the tape. I carry a box opener with me in my car and stop to remove signs when I can. Please post the rules for signs to remind people what is allowed and what is not. Let’s work together to keep our neighborhood looking good, as Eleanor did it all by herself and is no longer here to do it. Thanks for this article!
Be careful your not removing legally placed Open House signs. Please don’t turn this into a free for all.
So, what are the rules for garage sale/lost pet signs that are on street corners near stop signs, but not on the esplanade?
All signs placed in the right-of-way or attached to traffic signs or utility polls are considered bandit signs.
