First Memorial Northwest Coffee and Cars

First Memorial Northwest Coffee and Cars

Success!!!!

Our first MNW Coffee & Cars was a great success. The weather was great! We had awesome beverages from Coffee – Q and donuts from Karma Kolache! Both great locally owned businesses and franchise owners.

We had quite a few amazing vehicles and enthusiast alike. Vehicles that ranges from 1930’s to 2020’s and from gas guzzling monsters to electric instant-torque rockets were on display! The swings, slides, and splashpads were high speed attractions as well as families came out to enjoy the event for all ages!

Participants are gearing up for more meet ups, possibly as early as November! Special thanks to Kristen Wells for preparing the facility. Thank you to our participants: Jay Jackson, Kevin Smith, Tim Oawster, Ryan Aduddell, Angela Bullock, Ricardo Gonzalez, Ken Henry, Robert Hemphill, Paul Gross, Bob Fass, Terry Henry, Mario Childs, George Koscho, and Trey McCurdy!

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

Remembering and Honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country.

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day from the early tradition of decorating the graves of our fallen service people with flower, wreaths and flags. It is a day of remembrance and celebrating our freedoms in this great county to pursue a better life for all singularly and collectively.

Thank you to the Memorial Northwest Marlins for volunteering to help us celebrate this great day with fun for everyone at the community center. Thank you to the BSA as well for using their training and talents to honor our service people by presenting the National Anthem.

There will be a food truck for purchasing items from 11-2, freed popsicles around the pool, water melon races, games, and DJ and possible your new best friend you just haven’t met yet! We hope to see your there!

  • Don’t do burnouts or excessive “revving”. No one likes a speed demon on the highway; even fewer people like the person doing burnouts and revving his engine during a car meet.
  • Don’t park incorrectly.
  • Don’t touch someone else’s car.
  • Don’t block the photographers.

Safety & Security Report

March 2022

As we continue to enjoy improving service form our HCSO team, I want to point out a couple rising statistics:

  1. We are seeing an increase in burglaries of vehicles, some of this is through encouraging neighbors to report the activity and some is caused by more activity in general.
  2. We are seeing an increase in domestic issues in very select locations. When we section off those cases to locations, we have a general decrease in locations that are reporting issues.
  3. We have an increase in recorded traffic stops and tickets. This is thanks to a dedicated extra unit that was requested by our board, but we have seen a general increase in traffic tickets from all of our team.

I want to take a chance to reflect on why we are safe and secure and what we can learn from an event that occurred in another neighborhood of Houston. We are more safe and secure because of the work of law enforcement, but also because of the good decisions our community members make and how we take care of each other. We present, as a community, the position of strength and a show of force that deters more crime than not.

How can we learn from the news story below? What are the take-aways on how we can continue to keep our properties and people safe? Please comment below what you think we can learn and do?
